Kathryn Tong, WG'07

Kathryn Tong is a transformational healthcare executive with more than two decades of experience leading payer strategy, value-based care innovation, and national network development across some of the most influential organizations in the healthcare industry. She has held senior leadership roles at UnitedHealth Group, McKesson, US Renal Care, and Mom’s Meals, with a consistent track record of delivering growth, operational excellence, and mission-aligned impact.

As Chief Commercial Officer at Mom’s Meals, Kathryn delivered over $500 million in revenue and achieved a record 20% EBITDA margin through strategic payer negotiations and targeted government affairs initiatives. She played a pivotal role in restoring managed care partnerships following a major cyberattack and led the company’s expansion into clinical nutrition and digital health capabilities.

At US Renal Care, she launched a $1 billion CMS-aligned full-risk program and built a cross-functional growth team, signing more than 300 nephrologists across eight competitive markets to expand access for patients with late-stage CKD and ESRD.

Previously, Kathryn served as Vice President of Managed Care, Analytics, and Value-Based Transformation at McKesson Specialty Health/The US Oncology Network, where she led a 100-person team supporting more than 2,000 community oncology practices. Under her leadership, the Network became the largest participant in CMS’s Oncology Care Model, saving Medicare $35 million and securing 70 new value-based contracts with national payers.

Earlier in her career, Kathryn stood up Optum’s state government business, spearheading the launch of Medicaid-focused products in public sector markets. She secured $88 million in state contracts across New York, Nebraska, and Wyoming, while managing $60 million in capital budgets to scale delivery system reform.

Kathryn is widely recognized for her ability to align clinical innovation and value-based care to drive scalable network growth. She currently advises healthcare investors and startups focused on care delivery transformation and serves on the boards of Paloma Health and the Wharton Healthcare Alumni Association. She holds an MBA in Health Care Management from The Wharton School and a BA from Swarthmore College. She is based in Nashville, TN.
