As a successful leader in both medical devices and biopharma, Rami's unique story highlights the opportunities he's had, challenges he's faced and the high stakes decisions he's had to make along the way.

Rami Elghandour is Chairman and CEO of Arcellx (NASDAQ: ACLX), a biotechnology company developing transformative immunotherapies for cancer and autoimmune diseases which, it has been announced, will be acquired by Gilead for $7.8B. Previously, Rami has led two successful IPOs, built two multibillion-dollar public companies, and raised more than $1.75 billion in capital. Since joining the company in 2021, Rami transformed Arcellx from a small, early-stage startup into a leading, commercial-ready organization. During his tenure, he advanced anito-cel, the best therapeutic option for multiple myeloma, and drove a more than thirty-fold increase in value, reaching a peak valuation of over $6 billion before the announcement of the sale to Gilead for $7.8B in February 2026.

Previously, Rami was President and CEO of Nevro Corporation (formerly NYSE: NVRO), a global medical device company. Rami scaled the company from 30 employees to nearly 1,000, increasing its value by more than tenfold and reaching a peak valuation of over $3 billion. Rami’s career has spanned research, investing, and leadership roles with a dedication to bringing innovative, best-in-class therapies to patients and clinicians. He started his career as a design engineer designing and developing implantable neurostimulators. As a venture capitalist with JJDC, he invested in next-generation advances across devices, biotechnology, and consumer products. A recognized champion of diversity and inclusion, Rami has cultivated high performance teams through intentional representation of women and diverse leaders. He’s consistently earned recognition as an EY Entrepreneur of the Year, as one of the top CEOs in the U.S., and as a top CEO for women, diversity, and culture. He has also received the Bill Campbell Award, the Diversity Woman Magazine Game Changer Award, and the BLOC 100 Champion Award for his advocacy on behalf of women and women of color. Rami is a TEDx speaker on unconscious bias and is a recognized voice on gender equity. Rami is also a passionate advocate for social justice. He writes and speaks often on social issues, and is an executive producer on multiple award-winning films, including the Oscar-nominated “The Voice of Hind Rajab” and “American Doctor,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He serves on multiple nonprofit boards dedicated to advancing education, gender equity, and humanitarian impact. Rami received an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and holds a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rutgers University School of Engineering.
