Eric Davis, WG ’96

Hi everybody.  This update is long overdue, but I wanted to invite all Wharton friends to ping me if you are ever passing through Sydney (or Brisbane) with extra time on your hands. In 2020, after living in Australia for 4 years, I was recruited to return to the USA to lead Global Strategic Marketing for Abbott’s Rapid Diagnostics business. The COVID-19 crisis was a huge inspiration for this big move, but also my parents were both suddenly in a significant state of decline at that time, so it was important to be back in the USA at this time. But with COVID-19 in the rearview mirror, and with my parents having transitioned to a better place, my family and I decided to return to Australia earlier this year – this time forever.  This is our second time moving to Australia.

Our first move to Australia was seven years ago when a former boss from Abbott Diabetes Care (Freestyle Libre) recruited me to become Head of Product Management and eventually VP of Portfolio Strategy for Cochlear, the world’s leader in hearing implants.

I am now the Chief Growth Officer for Microba Life Sciences, a very exciting, early-stage, ASX-listed growth company which has world-leading technology for measuring the human gut microbiome.

Microba is a medical diagnostic and clinical-stage therapeutics company driving the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for major chronic diseases and delivering gut microbiome diagnostic testing services globally. Among other distinctions, Microba's largest shareholder is Sonic Healthcare (one of the world's largest medical diagnostic companies with with a market cap of $13B AUD).
