Craig Samitt, MD, MBA is a nationally recognized healthcare operator and innovator who has led collaborative change at the intersection of payors, providers and disruptors. He is the Founder and CEO of ITO Advisors, an advisory/investment and consulting firm committed to driving material change in the healthcare industry. In this capacity, Dr. Samitt holds board and advisory roles, serving as a strategic advisor to public and private corporations, federal agencies, health plans, health systems, and numerous digital health and care delivery organizations.
Dr. Samitt has nearly 30 years of experience in healthcare leadership and transformation, and has served as the President & CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota (BCBSMN), as Anthem’s EVP and chief clinical officer, and as President of Anthem’s Diversified Business Group (now Carelon), where he was responsible for leading the overall clinical vision and strategy and advancing Anthem’s portfolio of provider partnerships and payment innovation models. Dr. Samitt has led sequential health system transformations as President & CEO of Dean Health System and President & CEO of Healthcare Partners. Previously, Dr. Samitt served as a Commissioner on MedPAC and was named one of the “50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders” by Modern Healthcare. Dr. Samitt received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University, a Doctorate in Medicine from Columbia University, and a Master in Business Administration from The Wharton School.
