AI seems to be everywhere these days, with a proliferation of AI-enabled point solutions (applications that improve a single activity or task) being made available almost daily to healthcare organizations to address a wide range of key structural problems, including but not limited to labor shortages, rising costs of care, and continuing margin compression. However, according to a recent article published by McKinsey, this wave of AI innovation is likely result in two critical shifts: 1) the development of a modular, connected AI architecture, and 2) the creation of clinical data foundries, with implications for providers, payers, health services & technology (HST) companies, investors, and hyperscalers.
One of the authors of this article is one of our own, David Friend, MD, MBA (WG ’84). In this session, David will first summarize the key points made in the article regarding the anticipated future of AI in healthcare. We will then answer questions that have been submitted in advance by registrants. Finally, we will open it up for your questions “Ask ChatGPT” style and David will do his best to answer them.
We hope you will join us for what is sure to be a provocative, potentially somewhat scary, and illuminating discussion.
