Hospital capacity has remained above 70% since 2023, and overcrowding in the emergency department remains a persistent and urgent challenge for many health systems.
At Inspira Health, rising volumes and limited physical space forced a new approach. Instead of adding staff or beds, Inspira integrated an AI platform with restructured ED operations to reduce wait times, improve safety, and boost clinician capacity while engaging staff in the process.

Brooke Zacheis, MBA, MSN, RN, NE-BC is the Vice President of Clinical Operations at Inspira Health and an accomplished nursing leader with extensive experience in healthcare management and clinical operations. With a strong background in Emergency Nursing, Brooke has successfully led multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care and improve clinical outcomes. She has been instrumental in implementing innovative strategies and best practices that enhance care delivery while supporting and empowering clinical staff. Brooke’s vision for the future is grounded in continuous improvement, fostering a collaborative culture, and leveraging technology to streamline processes, elevate patient care, and support clinical teams in their vital work.
Kate Mangarelli, MBA, BSN, RN serves as Assistant Vice President of Emergency and Nursing Operational Services at Inspira Health Network. A seasoned emergency department leader with over 20 years of frontline and executive leadership; Kate has led large, complex clinical teams across Level I trauma and high-volume emergency settings. Her work focuses on operational redesign, quality and safety, workforce optimization, staff engagement, and leveraging innovation to support nurses and improve patient flow.
