According to The Commonwealth Fund, approximately 4.5 million people used some form of home health in 2016, and 78 percent of those users were Medicare beneficiaries. As CEO and the Practice President of the Senior Care Group at BAYADA Home Health Care, a leading global not-for-profit provider of in-home healthcare and support services spanning birth to end-of-life — including senior care and physician services to provide primary care services to homebound seniors — I have seen this number is only continuing to grow as America grows older and more people are looking to age in place in the comfort of their homes with their loved ones.

Advances in technology and digital health have accelerated during the pandemic. Remote monitoring, wearables, telehealth, fall protection devices, digital assistants, virtual reality devices, and GPS trackers enable the potential of expanded access, reduction in health disparities, other gaps in care, more continuous care, and, in select situations, even “hospital at home.”

It is an especially exciting time to be in the home healthcare field, with growing opportunities to reach more people in need of the quality care they deserve.

David Baiada WG'06
CEO, BAYADA Home Health Care

David L. Baiada is the CEO of BAYADA Home Health Care, a $1.5 billion global leader in home health care, with over 26,000 nurses, aides, therapists and other professionals serving clients in more than 345 locations in 22 states, Canada, Germany, India, Ireland, New Zealand, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. Mr. Baiada was appointed CEO in August 2017 when BAYADA’s founder, Mark Baiada, stepped into a new role as Chairman. That milestone was also the official launch of BAYADA’s transformation into a not-for-profit organization—putting mission over money—to help ensure that the company will never be sold, and that its mission, vision, beliefs, and values—codified in The BAYADA Way—will endure for generations to come.

Mr. Baiada is committed to a people-first philosophy, attracting and supporting purpose-driven and like-hearted individuals who share a passion for helping others and put the needs of their clients first. He believes that a choice to pursue a health professional is a choice to help others, and that home is the best place to tune into people’s needs and truly make a difference.

Since joining BAYADA in 2002, Mr. Baiada has worked in a variety of roles and learned the business from the ground-up. Taking on progressively increasing responsibilities, he most recently served as practice president for home health, hospice, pediatrics practices; lead the Enterprise Quality teams responsible for policy development, regulatory support, and quality assurance/auditing; spearheaded the redesign of the quality improvement and standards framework for the entire enterprise; oversaw four strategic business acquisitions; and launched the Hospice Specialty Practice to provide high-quality, end-of-life services.

In May 2016, Mr. Baiada was named one of the 40 most influential professionals under age 40 in the Philadelphia region by the Philadelphia Business Journal. Mr. Baiada was also recognized as a Top CEO by Glassdoor in 2019. Most recently, Mr. Baiada was named an Entrepreneur of The Year® 2021 Greater Philadelphia Award winner by Ernst & Young and was ranked in the top 20 of the City & State Pennsylvania’s 2021 Healthcare Power 100 list.

Prior to joining BAYADA, Mr. Baiada worked as an analyst and associate at Diamond Management and Technology Partners in Chicago. He earned an MBA in Health Care Management from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and BA in Economics from Cornell University.

A resident of Philadelphia, Mr. Baiada and his wife Mindy have two daughters, Gweneth (8) and Annabelle (7).
