Marisa Bass, C’08, WG’14

Marisa is a Principal at Primary Venture Partners, where she focuses on investing in innovative early healthcare businesses and supporting their growth. Prior to Primary, Marisa was the GM of Healthcare at CLEAR (“YOU”, NYSE), where she was responsible for establishing and leading a healthcare vertical, leveraging CLEAR’s secure identity platform. During Marisa’s tenure the team launched multiple products, the most notable of which was HealthPass, a COVID screening platform used by millions of consumers and hundreds of enterprise organizations. Marisa joined CLEAR from Quartet, a healthcare technology and services startup integrating mental and physical health, where as Head of Health Systems Partnerships, she built and led a national health system business, developing the division strategy, business model and managing associated client pursuits.

Prior to Quartet, Marisa was Head of Finance & Strategy for Emblem Health’s three fully capitated dual-eligible managed long-term care (MLTC) programs, focusing on improving patient outcomes. Marisa started her career in finance at Citi Private Bank, culminating as Head of Business Planning & Execution for the North American Investments business. As an NYC native, Marisa grew up volunteering and interning with various local hospitals, developing an early passion for the intersection of healthcare and business.

Marisa received her MBA in healthcare management from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Economics and minor in healthcare management at the University of Pennsylvania. Marisa has been an active board member of the Wharton Healthcare Management Alumni Association (WHCMAA) since 2018.

Marisa currently serves on the board of PSI, an international non-profit that delivers healthcare services and products to 41M individuals globally. Marisa is a founding Maverick Next fellow, a 2-year fellowship sponsored by the Gates Foundation, LSE, and PSI driving innovative programming for women and girls globally.
