Please join the Wharton Club of Boston for a guided tour of the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln!

The Wharton Health Care Management Alumni Association is pleased to share the following event.

The Wharton Club of Boston invites you and your family, including children, to join us for a guided tour of the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln. Pre- and post-tour do-it-yourself picnicking opportunities throughout the Park’s beautifully maintained grounds will abound.

The largest facility of its kind in New England, the Sculpture Park and Museum displays a constantly changing array of about 60 large, contemporary sculptures on over 30 acres of rolling woodlands and lawns along the shore of Flint’s Pond. A number of the works are site specific, the result of collaboration between artists and curators. Some are environmentally derived in materials and design. If you don’t see the works here, you probably won’t see them at all!

Jim Dine, Dewitt Godfrey, Sol LeWitt, Paul Matisse and Isaac Witkin are among the artists whose sculptures are now on loan to the deCordova. Works by Dorothy Dehner, Antony Gormley, Dan Graham, Alexander Liberman, Nam June Paik, Beverly Pepper, Jaume Plensa, George Rickey and Ursula von Rydingsvard are in the permanent collection. The Park’s guides will explain the art and answer your questions. We will begin to gather in the Museum café at about noon for networking, picnicking, browsing inside the Museum or doing whatever else catches our fancy of the moment. The tour starts at 1 p.m. and will last 45 minutes to one hour.

Each group of 10 to 15 people will have its own guide. Besides possessing comprehensive knowledge of the art, the guides are adept at accommodating the needs of families, children included, so we encourage you to bring along as many of your family as want to attend.

Our tour of the Sculpture Park and Museum will be relaxing as well as enlightening.
