Kate Reed, WG‘87

Kate.pngKate is, as of May 1st, 2017, the President of St Joseph’s Women’s Hospital and St Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, two specialty hospitals that are part of the BayCare Health System, in Tampa, Florida.   In this new role, Kate will be responsible for leading and supporting the teams at both hospitals, and for the strategic service line development for Women’s and Children’s services across the BayCare System.

Kate is a registered nurse who started her career working in neonatal intensive care units and working as a flight nurse.  After earning an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Boston College, Kate was a Nurse Manager for several years before attending Wharton. She graduated from Wharton with an MBA, as a member of the class of 1987, in the healthcare program. She then spent a few years as a senior consultant and principal consulting on planning, operational transformation, and facility design for notable hospitals all across the country.  Kate has spent the past 20 years working as a hospital executive - at Boston Children’s Hospital, Virginia Mason Medical Center, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Kate serves on the WHCMAA Board and is the Chairperson of the Career Development Committee.  Kate’s husband is an Episcopal minister and their kids are both in college – so the move to Tampa will be as empty nesters – they are eager to enjoy the Gulf water and escape the cold and snow of New England.
