Wharton Life Science Breakfast Series “Capital Efficiency in Life Sciences: How to Achieve Capital Efficiency in a Cash Constrained Environment”
Sponsored by
A WHCMAA Philadelphia Event Our last Wharton Life Science Breakfast Series discussed capital efficiency in the context of investor returns. In light of the economic meltdown, we wanted to explore what actionable steps and new business models can companies employ to survive until their next inflection point to weather the storm. Since the life sciences require an intense amount of capital, anything that can be done to do more with less would be beneficial to all companies, their investors, and patients. Please join a roundtable discussion with leaders in our life sciences community as they address a range of issues facing emerging (and established) life science organizations, and share success stories and best practices in pursuing capital efficiency. Joining the discussion will be: Moderator: Jay Mohr (WG '91), Managing Director, Locust Walk Partners (strategy and transaction advisory firm) Panelists: Robert Alonso, CEO, Yaupon Therapeutics (raised >$15M in non-dilutive financing) Richard Baron, CFO, Avid Radiopharmaceuticals (sold Animas to J&J) Chris Cashman, CEO, Protez (recently acquired for $400M by Novartis) David King, Venture Partner, Quaker BioVentures (most recently sold BioRexis to Pfizer) Peter Payne, VP, NovaQuest (invests in clinical trials alongside Quintiles) This event was organized by the Wharton Health Care Management Alumni Association (WHCMAA).
